Jonathan J. Baskin, MD, FACS
Dr. Jonathan Baskin received his Bachelor of Science degree with honors (Summa Cum Laude and Phi
Beta Kappa) from Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts and his MD from Johns Hopkins
School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. His post-graduate training was completed at
Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona, and his residency training was completed at
The Barrow Neurological Institute under the guidance of Dr. Robert Spetzler in Phoenix, Arizona.
In addition, he completed a Clinical Spine Surgery Fellowship with Dr. Volker Sonntag at
The Barrow Neurological Institute. In 2002 Dr. Baskin achieved Board Certification from the
American Board of Neurological Surgery.
Dr. Baskin's areas of clinical interest include: complex spine surgery, tumors of the spine, minimally
invasive techniques of spinal decompression and fracture stabilization (kyphoplasty), image-guided
neurosurgery for brain tumors and spinal stabilization.
He is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological
Surgeons and the North American Spine Society. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgery. Dr.
Baskin's professional publications and presentations made prior to joining ANS include spinal
reconstructive surgery, neuroendoscopy, hydrocephalus and vascular neurosurgery.
