Our staff is exceptionally experienced in the
surgical treatment of spinal disorders. ANS has a special interest in minimally invasive spinal surgery,
particularly for patients with herniated disc disease and painful vertebral compression fractures.
A significant percentage
of our patients suffer from either degenerative or traumatic spinal
injuries. The determination to pursue surgical treatment is rigorously
supported by radiographic and clinical data. Procedures to address spinal
cord or nerve compression by herniated discs, bony spurs or tumors are
routinely performed in the cervical, thoracic and lumbar regions. We
employ anterior and posterior approaches, minimally invasive techniques
with endoscopic approaches, kyphoplasty and frameless stereotaxy. An
extensive range of spinal instrumentation procedures is performed for
stabilization of degenerative, neoplastic and traumatic etiologies.
Spinal cord tumors, vascular malformations, and spasticity procedures
are done in collaboration with specialists in those areas. The spinal disorders team
meets monthly for a multidisciplinary conference to discuss complex
cases.
